Tiger's Nest at Paro Valley

The resistance for having a global influence in Bhutan is a way in protecting their cultural heritages. And to further preserve them from contamination of advances as they give more importance to farming and the natural beauty of Paro Valley.  In this way, the “Land of the Thunder Dragon”, which it was known for Bhutan centuries ago, began to open their doors for tourism as a travel destination for cultural showcase.  One of this rooted from the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan from one of its cave named the Tiger's Den or more commonly known as the Tiger's Nest. Also it is known as Taktshang monastery by its people.

The cave gained its name from a mythological tale of a guru who have stayed in the cave to meditate. He came to the place riding on a tigress which accompanies him at this meditation. Later, he have devotees and they built a temple in the area to flourished their beliefs around 1692. And currently, the government of Bhutan renovated the monastery as it was caught by fire in April, 1998. However, the monastery is devoted for Buddhists and non-Buddhists needs a permission in visiting the sacred monastery of Bhutan.
