A Caldera Lake in Oregon: Crater Lake

Mount Mazama, way back a thousand years, is believed to have been a cluster of volcanoes making disruptive eruptions on its surroundings. This mountain have huge eruption that merely formed other mountains nowadays nearby its peak. However, those formations was also the result and once a volcano yet the conditions of the volcanic activities of these mounds became extinct. Imagine, those molten rocks flowing out on the mouth of Mount Mazama. With that huge land mass to form a lake with 5 to 6 miles of diameter, it is pretty hilarious in inhabitants in prehistoric times.

Moreover, it is believed that the caldera or a depression in land mass that surrounds Crater Lake were the remains of a huge mountain due to the volcanic eruptions that have had happened. And it also formed Wizard island that lies within the lake.

Mount Mazama was named after a group who climbed the mountain which is known as “The Mazamas”. Mazama is also became a sacred site for its native because it is the remnants of the battle of their sky and underworld god.

Currently, the site is became part of Crater Lake National Park. With its blue water, its became the deepest lake in United States with a record of an approximate not more than 2,000 feet according to Oregon State University.
